If you asked me where I spend most of my weekends lately, the answer wouldn’t be job sites or behind a computer – it would be on the sidelines of a soccer field, cheering on my two boys.

But then something happens that I love watching as a parent. They dig deep, find another gear, and keep going.

And it’s funny, because the lessons they’re learning on the field are the same ones that shape how I run my business every day.

The Power of Grit

Recently I read the book Grit by Angela Duckworth, and the whole time I kept thinking about my oldest son. Once he sets his mind on something, he just keeps working at it – practicing, improving, trying again. If there’s a new soccer skill he wants to learn, he’s in the back yard perfecting it way into the evening.

That idea of showing up consistently, even when progress feels slow, is exactly what building a business looks like too.

Clear Property Inspections is a small, family-run company. There’s no shortcut button. If we don’t put in the work, the phone doesn’t ring. Success comes from consistency, relationships, and doing the right thing over and over again, even when no one sees the effort behind the scenes.

Teamwork Matters At Home and At Work

Watching my boys play has also reminded me how important teamwork is. Soccer isn’t about one person carrying the whole match, it’s about communication, trust, and knowing someone else has your back.

That’s exactly how we operate at Clear Property Inspections. My husband and I work as a tag team every day. We stay in our lanes, support each other, and focus on getting the best outcome for the people who call us for help.

Because when someone reaches out to us, it’s usually during a stressful moment. Something feels wrong in their home. They’re worried. They need answers.

And just like in sports, showing up calm, prepared, and reliable makes all the difference.

Lessons Bigger Than Soccer

What I love most is that my kids don’t even realise the life lessons they’re learning yet; resilience, patience, discipline, and confidence.

They remind me daily why I started this business in the first place.

It was never just about inspections. It was about helping people, building something meaningful for our family, and creating a life where hard work and integrity matter.

So if you ever see me answering emails from a soccer sideline or cheering a little too loudly during a game, now you know why.

Because sometimes the best business lessons don’t come from a boardroom… they come from a soccer field.
